(EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY)

1ST SEMESTER

This school year we have a subject called Empowerment Technology. Empowerment Technology often deals with the use of different technologies such as mobile phones, telephone, computer and other devices to locate, save, communicate and to inform. Empowerment Technology is important for its innovative uses is sufficient in our daily lives. Empower means "give power or authority to." When you educate children and believe in them, you empower those kids to go after their dreams.
In 1st grading, our topic in lesson 1 is all about 'Introduction to ICT', I have learned that Information and Communication Technology deals with the different communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephone, internet, etc. to locate, save, edit information. I also learned that the Phillipines was known as the 'ICT Hub of Asia'.  I was able to learned that the Makati City, Philippines had the 1st rank as the “Selfiest Cities in the World” in Time Magazine, while Cebu City had in the 9th rank also in Time Magazine. In this lesson we also tackled about World Wide Web, I learned about the uses of Web 2.0, about those key features of Web 2.0, and also about Web 3.0 and the Semantic Web. The topic also tackled about different trends in ICT like (1)Convergence, (2)Social Media with it's type like Social Networks, Bookmarking Sites, Social News, Media Sharing, Microblogging, Blogs and Forums, (3)Mobile Technologies and different kinds of Mobile Operating System like iOs, Android, Blackberry OS, Windows Phone OS, Symbian, Web OS, and Windows Mobile, the last is (4)Assistive Media.
In lesson 2, I was able to know about Internet, some tips to stay safe online, some antivirus like Bitdefender, ESET NOD32, F-Secure, Kapersky,Norton, Avast, SMADAV, Internet Threats like (1) Malware with its types like Virus, Worm, Trojan, Spyware, Adware, (2)Spam, (3)Phishing, (4)Botnet, and (5)Denial. I was able to learned the ten core rules of netiquette and the different types of information with risk like Mother's and Father's Name, Siblings Name, Address, Home Phone Numbers, Birthday, Email Address, First Name, Last Name, Middle Name, Current and Previous School, and Cellphone Number.
  In lesson 3, I was able to know about Internet Research, about the Strengths and Weaknesses of Internet Research. I have learned the Online Research Skills like check your sources, ask good questions, go beyond the surface, be patient, respect ownership, and  use your networks.
In lesson 4, I have learned about Applied Productivity Tools and the most commonly use types of productivity tools such as Word Processor,Spreadsheet, Presentation Program, Database in Management System (DBMS), and Graphics suite. By this lesson I have learened about Libre Office like Open Source, Mail Merge, The Documents, The Spreadsheet, The Database, and Merging. I was able to know the Spreadsheet Formula such as for Multiplication, for Division, for Addition and for Subtraction.
In lesson 5, I was able to learned about demonstrating basic word processing concepts and functions. Word processing document include letters, memorandums, faxes, mail merges, reports, one page flyers, and email. By this lesson I learned about Word Processing such as creating documents, viewing documents, saving documents, editing features, retrieving documents, printing documents. I was able to know about Character Formatting, Paragraph Formatting, and Page Formatting. I also learned about Word Processing Tools. By the end of the lesson we were given the steps on how to make a brochure and calling card and was performed it by pair.
In lesson 6, I was able to learned about Microsoft Excel and its uses. I also learned how to use the buttons and ribbons in the Microsoft Excel. By the end of the lesson we were able to record the scores of my classmates using Microsoft Excel.
Our topic in lesson 7 is all about PowerPoint. I have learned about definition and the ribbon of PowerPoint. I have learned the different ribbons that the PowerPoint have and how to be use it.
In 2nd grading this semester, I was able to learned how to start a blog in 6 steps. By this lesson we made a blog by group, our chosen topic is about 'Environmental Conservation and Action', in our group we made a title that is related in topic and it is “KEEP GREEN and CLEAN", and after the blog by group, I was able to make my own blog, my chosen topic is about ‘Animal Welfare and Rights', and the title I made is “STOP ABUSING AN ENDANGERED".
